Is Free Speech Dead?

Anyone that’s been paying attention must realize by now that the goal of the ‘self-selected’ is to eliminate all information that doesn’t fit with whatever their current goals are.

Anything that doesn’t fit the officially designated beliefs or narrative, false or not, is now labeled as misinformation, disinformation, extremism, antisemitism, anti-x-y-z, or when all else fails, the arbitrary, fluid, catch-all designation, ‘Hate Speech’.

Criticized in December for tolerating Nazis and white supremacists on its platform, Substack doubled down, saying that “censorship” wouldn’t “make the problem go away.”

The actual ‘problem’ is revealed right there. That’s when alternative viewpoints are labeled as ‘a problem’, as inappropriate and harmful, as misinformation or disinformation, or by any other of the expanding number of censoring tools.

This is how it starts, and ultimately leads to more and more censoring and shadow banning until a platform becomes just like the rest of the so-called alternative platforms that have introduced increasing levels of censoring up until they finally delete a site.

Many of these ‘alternative’ sites have been deliberately established with a claim of ‘free speech’ in order to corral in free speech advocates to aid those who are collecting names for future actions than just censoring.

Some of Substack’s writers have abandoned or threatened to leave the site unless its leaders reconsider their policies.

This group of ‘special needs’ writers should combine their efforts and create their own perfect social media platform that centers around their perfect conception of allowed beliefs and speech, whatever that is. My guess is that they may actually have a large following since a significant number of the population has apparently subscribed to an increasingly narrowed range of state mandated economic, political and scientific current and historical beliefs.

In spite of the claim made by many alternative ‘free speech’ sites that they are strict about individuals voicing violence against others, there is a certain group of individuals that can boldly and openly claim that their ‘divine’ goal is to eliminate a particular race, and this group gets a pass for hate speech on a regular basis.

So there is clearly a double standard applied by many of the so-called free speech social media sites, some of which have openly stated that they allow free speech but not free access, which means that people can post on the platform, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that subscribers will notified of their posts, searches on the platform will pull up their posts, views, likes or that comments will be recorded, or their posts will be recommended. There have been cases where only the poster could even view their post, with it being invisible to anyone else.

Anyway you slice it, the mob rule mentality is a losing proposition for everyone, including ultimately the mob.
